Lavender, Peonies & Tulips = joy, vibrant colors, scents that are calming and they are magical.
We come from a mountain ranch on the western slope of Colorado with a few detours toother states we moved to Tennessee. After living years in Cumberland Gap area, part of that time owning and operating The Ole Mill Inn Bed & Breakfast, we decided to move to Ewing, Virgina and purchase a 100-acre farm and ranch. We have horses of our own and board horses for others, especially veterinary students studying just a few miles away at Lincoln Memorial University.
In 2023 we started High Meadow Lavender Farm, and we are family owned and operated with a desire to provide an offering of fresh cut flowers to the Tri-State area of Virginia, Tennessee and Kentucky.
So, after a couple of years, we thought "hey way not take some of the acres and put in lavender?"
Willing to give it a try, planting 1,000 plants (800 Grosso, 100 English and 100 Kewi) in 2023. In the spring of 2024, another 500 plants were placed on the farm.
Thinking about what goes with lavender the obvious choice was Peonies (my favorite flower) and so 300 plants were added to the flower farm. Never one to stop when flowers are involved so 2,000 Tulip bulbs of many varieties and colors joined the Peonies, and Lavender.
Joyously growning,
Hester and Pete Kuykendall
